The 2018 Taste of Monroeville & Market
Thursday, November 8, 2018
Monroeville's Historic Downtown

This popular annual event will be held downtown Monroeville, Alabama on Thursday, November 8th.

The Monroeville/Monroe County Chamber of Commerce will kick off the holiday shopping season with the 2018 Taste of Monroeville & Market, an all-day event scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018 in Monroeville’s Historic Downtown. The market will begin at 9:00 am.  The ticketed taste event will begin at 6:00 pm. Tickets for the Taste are $30 each, purchased in advanced, and $40 on the day of the event. Tickets are on sale now through chamber directors, the Chamber office and The Bird’s Nest Gift Shop at Monroe County Museum.

Community organizations will set up booths and provide entertainment, sponsored by The City of Monroeville.  Proceeds from this event will go towards the Monroe County Animal Shelter and other quality of life projects.

Although many portions of the day’s events are free to the public, the Taste of Monroeville, beginning at 6:00 p.m., is a ticketed event offering a variety of food and drink booths from local caterers, restaurants and community organizations.  A $30 ticket includes six tear-off tickets good for six booth visits, and two drink tickets. Ticket holders may use their tickets at different vendors or they may use all with one vendor.   Drink tickets are good for wine, beer or soft drinks.

The Chamber is encouraging local restaurants, chefs and community organizations to participate in the event.  Vendors will receive a portion of the profits.  For each tear-off ticket redeemed at a respective booth, organization/vendor will receive $1 back.  Registration forms are available at the Chamber office.

Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Penelope Hines remarked, “It is important that we are inviting the community organizations to participate and that we are giving back some of the revenue.  The Monroe County Animal Shelter is always in great need of support, and I am happy that our proceeds will benefit it this year as well as other quality of life projects.”

Hines also noted that the chamber will have its own tent where bread pudding will be served.  “Our directors have gotten into the spirit of this event. I know it will be good, and when it’s gone, it’s gone!"

Prizes will be awarded in the following three categories:  Best Taste of Monroeville, Professional (for restaurants or licensed caterers);  Best Taste of Monroeville, Amateur (for community organizations, nonprofits or individuals);  Best Dessert, Professional;  Best Dessert, Amateur, and Best Presentation.
